After England’s Euro 2016 kits were met with mixed reviews, Nike are planning a return to more classic designs for the upcoming World Cup.

The most recent kits have seen shirts with oddly coloured shoulders and socks looking like they’ve been paired with the wrong shirt by mistake.

It’s nice, then, to see a return to form.

A white England shirt with a touch of red – it can be so simple to get these things right.

A simple design features the cross of Saint George on the back of the neck and a subtle English rose on the inside of the neck.

The full kit will also have a classic look, with navy shorts and white socks.

From behind, the red numbers instantly bring back memories (unfortunately) of the kit worn during Euro 2000.

We won’t complain, though: this is how an England home kit should look.

Away kit

Red shirt with white shorts and red socks. Again, these things can be so simple.

The front of the away shirt features a knitted pattern to show Saint George’s cross.

England will take on Tunisia, Panama, and Belgium during the World Cup group stage in Russia as they look to end 52 years without World Cup success.
