Round of 16

Any one of five nations await

- Date for the Diary: Sunday 30 June, 17:00 (Live on ITV)- Where: Gelsenkirchen (Veltins Arena)- Against Who: Netherland or 3rd place team in Group E

What is absolutely certain is that England will play in Gelsenkirchen at 17:00 on Sunday.

What is also certain is that England's opponents will be one of the third-placed nations from either Group D or E. We will not know who that opponent will be until the final whistles blow in Group F's two games at close to 10pm on Wednesday night.

Of the eight nations in Groups D and E, three are certain not to finish third. Austria (first in Group D), France (second in Group D) and Poland (bottom of Group D) have had their positions confirmed.

This means that from Group D, Netherlands are the third-place team, and England will either play the Dutch or one of the teams from Group E. Any of Romania, Belgium, Slovakia or Ukraine can finish third in that group.

England can be backed at 4/1 to win Euro 2024

Quarter-Final

Re-run of Euro 2020 final on the cards

- Date for the Diary: Saturday 6 July, 17:00- Where: Dusseldorf (Dusseldorf Arena)- Against Who: Switzerland or Italy

If England progress to the quarter-final then they will have another 17:00 kick-off, this time in Dusseldorf on Saturday 6 July against either Switzerland or Italy.

A match against defending champions Italy will be a re-run of the Euro 2020 final at Wembley in which the Azzurri won on penalties.

The Three Lions are unbeaten against Switzerland for over 40 years, last losing to their potential quarter-final opponents in a World Cup qualifier in 1981. They last met at a major tournament in the Group stage of Euro 2004 with England running out 3-0 winners.

Italy can be backed at 16/1 to retain their crown.

Semi-Final

Belgium await after France flop

- Date for the Diary: Wednesday 10 July, 20:00- Where: Dortmund (Signal Iduna Park)- Against Who: possibly Belgium or Austria

If the knock-out games go to form, then should England make it to the semi-final they are likely to play the winners of either Group D or Group E (who are set to meet in the quarter-final) in Dortmund at 20:00 on Wednesday 10 July.

This potentially means a meeting with Austria or Belgium in the last four after Austria surprisingly finished top of Group D ahead of France and Netherlands.

As things stand Group E is wide open with all four nations winning one and losing one of their opening two games. The strongest team in the group is Belgium, and if they were to meet Austria in the quarter-final stage then they'd be the favourites to reach the semi-final

After today's games France are 9/2 joint-second favourites to win Euro 2024.
