Bukayo Saka’s England and Arsenal teammate Aaron Ramsale has encouraged the forward to take a penalty in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Saka, along with fellow teammates Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, had missed a penalty in the final of the Euros against Italy in 2021, which led to the Azzurri winning the tournament despite England’s valiant efforts in the tournament.
With the Three Lions set to open their campaign with a game against Iran on Monday, Ramsdale has encouraged and backed Saka to take a penalty in the World Cup, stating that his Arsenal teammate’s response to the miss against Italy has been ‘impeccable’.
When asked by Sky Sports about whether Saka should take a spot kick or not, Ramsdale said: “Absolutely. He is three from three since that day. I think he has realised it was just something that happened to him and he would not shy away from that because he is that type of person. He knows the feeling now and hopefully next time he steps up he can put the ball in the back of the net.”
Saka has been very impressive for Arsenal in the Premier League so far, helping them be at the top of the table in the league. The winger has scored four goals, getting six assists in the Premier League, scoring once in the Europa League.
