After Lotja de Keijzer forced a good save from Fran Stenson the Young Lionesses were on top, Michelle Agyemang curled just wide and Laura Blindkilde Brown scored following good build-up play from Anouk Denton, Freya Gregory and Agyemang.

Agyemang saw her goal-bound shot blocked and set up Katie Robinson for an effort 10 minutes from half-time, before going close again herself.

Olivia McLoughlin and Robinson combined in creating a dangerous cross that was cleared in the nick of time by the Dutch defence, Robinson later thwarted by the keeper and then headed against the woodwork in the dying minutes.

In stoppage-time, Fenna Kalma curled home a free-kick to see England leave with just the one Euro U-23 League point, instead of all three.

England next play Portugal on Tuesday 29 October at Shrewsbury Town FC.
