Former Premier League striker Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink has joined Gareth Southgate’s England coaching staff.
The Dutchman has reportedly replaced the departing Chris Powell, who has stepped down from his role with the national team to focus on his work with Tottenham’s academy.
Hasselbaink has been out of work since resigning as manager of Burton Albion following a poor start to the season.
The 50-year-old scored 127 Premier League goals during spells with Leeds, Chelsea, Middlesbrough and Charlton, and won 23 caps for the Netherlands during a senior career that spanned three decades.
As well as two spells at Burton, he has also managed Royal Antwerp, Queens Park Rangers and Northampton.
Performance psychologist Ian Mitchell is also understood to have left Southgate’s coaching staff, but a replacement has not yet been named.
The Three Lions begin their qualification campaign for Euro 2024 this week, with a clash against Italy coming up in Naples on Thursday, before they host Ukraine at Wembley on Sunday.
