Carsley has opted to bolster his ranks with the additions of uncapped duo Curtis Jones and Tino Livramento, while there are recalls for Angel Gomes and Noni Madueke after debuts last month.

Harry Kane is expected to be passed fit to feature despite an injury scare for the Bayern Munich forward at the weekend. The 31-year-old scored twice on his last appearance for England, marking his 100th cap with his 67th and 68th goals for the Three Lions. However, Carsley has said the forward will start on the bench. John Stones will captain the side.

Ollie Watkins is the likely alternative, while Dominic Solanke will also be hoping for minutes this month. The 27-year-old is back in the England squad for the first time since making his debut as a substitute against Brazil in November 2017. Solanke’s seven-year absence from the squad has come to an end after a promising start at Spurs, following his club-record move to North London in the summer.
