It was one-way traffic throughout the match at Ashton Gate – and the entire tournament – as England scored 12 goals across all three games en route to the title.

Heading into this clash, the Lionesses were level on points with Belgium but put the Europeans to the sword immediately with some deadly play along the wings.

Early on Lauren James drove forward with a blistering run and Euro 2022 hero Chloe Kelly opened the scoring after pouncing on a defensive miscue at the back.

Leah Williamson then doubled the lead just before the break with a header at the back post; though it was a lucky goal as the ball appeared to be handled by Alessia Russo, yet the offence wasn’t spotted.

Only 2-0 down, Belgium had time (and the talent) to try and kickstart a comeback, but the likes of Justine Vanhaevermaet, Kassandra Missipo and Tessa Wullaert struggled to create anything worthwhile.

Kelly continued to be in deadly form and tapped home a second before Julie Biesmans redirected a cross from Georgia Stanway into her own net for 4-0.

A late frenzy saw Lucy Bronze and Williamson score to make it six on the night for England though Belgium can walk away happy having been the only side all tournament to strike against the holders through Elena Dhont’s long-range effort.

With the brace, Kelly won the tournament Golden Boot award (three goals).

The Lionesses are now unbeaten in a staggering 29 games as their Women’s World Cup preparations continued to impress under manager Sarina Wiegman.
