A host of European nations were in World Cup qualifying on Saturday.
Here’s what went down.
Scorers: Chilwell 17′, Saka 40′, Abraham 59′, Ward-Prowse 79′, Grealish 86′
England are four points clear at the top of Group I after a comfortable victory over Andorra.
Ben Chilwell scored his first England goal after 17 minutes when he smashed in from close range following Jadon Sancho’s lay-off. The goal was initially disallowed for offside but after a VAR check, it was allowed to stand.
Bukayo Saka then made it 2-0 five minutes before half-time when he rattled into the top corner having been picked by Phil Foden.
Tammy Abraham then made it 3-0 when he turned in Sancho’s cross from close range in the second half.
England were then awarded a penalty when substitute Jack Grealish was brought down in the box, and though James Ward-Prowse saw his penalty saved by the goalkeeper, he tucked away the rebound for 4-0.
And Grealish then got in on the act himself when he latched onto a long throw downfield by goalkeeper Sam Johnstone before finishing into the bottom corner.
Scorers: Zuber 45+3′, Fassnacht 90+1′
Northern Ireland remain third in Group C after they were beaten by Switzerland in Geneva.
Denis Zakaria thought he’d given Switzerland an early lead but the goal was disallowed by VAR for offside against Kevin Mbabu.
Northern Ireland were then reduced to 10 men in the 37th minute, when Jamal Lewis was shown a second yellow card for time wasting over a throw-in.
And in first half stoppage time, Switzerland got their noses in front when Steven Zuber drilled into the bottom corner after some good work from Breel Embolo.
That was how the scoreline stayed until Christian Fassnacht netted in injury time to seal a dominant display from the Swiss.
Scorers: McGinn 29′, Dykes 55′, McTominay 90+4′; Zahavi 5′, Dabbur 32′
A late winning goal from Scott McTominay lifted the roof off Hampden Park as Scotland came from behind to beat Israel.
Israel took an early lead when Eran Zahavi guided a brilliant free-kick over the wall and past Scotland goalkeeper David Marshall.
Scotland drew level midway through the first half, when John McGinn curled a beautiful effort into the top corner from the edge of the box.
But Israel went down the other end and went 2-1 up almost immediately, with Mu’nas Dabbur tapping in at the back post after a goalmouth scramble.
The hosts had the chance to equalise just before half-time, when Billy Gilmour was fouled in the box by Bibars Natcho and the referee awarded a penalty.
However, Lyndon Dykes tried to smash his spot-kick straight down the middle but it was saved by goalkeeper Ofir Marciano.
Dykes then made amends when he volleyed home the equaliser nine minutes into the second half. The goal was initially ruled out for a high foot but after consulting the VAR monitor, the referee allowed it to stand.
And deep into stoppage time, Scotland finally got their noses in front when Scott McTominay bundled home a corner at the back post for 3-2.
Scorers: Robinson 7′, 39′, Ogbene 90′
Republic of Ireland got their first victory of the 2022 qualifying campaign courtesy of a first half brace from Callum Robinson and a late Chiedozie Ogbene clincher.
Ireland went in front after just seven minutes, when Robinson fired a superb left-footed strike in from 20-yards out for his first competitive international goal.
Robinson then bagged his and Ireland’s second goal just before half-time, when he found the bottom corner with a low curving effort.
The West Bromwich Albion man then had a great chance to seal his hat-trick denied by goalkeeper Sahruddin Mehemmedeliyev, before Matt Doherty thought he might have given a penalty away for handball, only for the VAR to decide he had been fouled before the ball touched his arm.
And then in stoppage time, substitute Ogbene wrapped up the victory when he made it 3-0 with a powerful header.
