Lee Carsley hands in-form striker a long-awaited international return, but Tottenham teammate’s Three Lions future is in doubt
Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke has been recalled to the England squad for the first time in seven years.
Solanke earned a solitary England cap as a substitute in the friendly against Brazil at Wembley back in 2017, when he was a Liverpool player, but was afterwards overlooked by former Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate, despite scoring 19 Premier League goals for Bournemouth last season.
The 27-year-old, who was injured for England's games last month, joined Spurs in a £55milllion deal from the Cherries over the summer and has scored in three straight appearances. He has now been rewarded with a recall by Southgate's successor, interim head coach Lee Carsley.
England face Greece at Wembley next week before travelling to Finland in a Nations League double-header, with Carsley looking to build on last month's wins over the Republic of Ireland and the Fins.

Solanke's Spurs teammate James Maddison is among the players who have missed out again, while Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire and West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen have also been dropped. Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers is set to return to the Under-21 squad.
Jude Bellingham, Cole Palmer, Phil Foden and Kyle Walker all return, while the likes of Rico Lewis, Angel Gomes, Morgan Gibbs-White and Noni Madueke all keep their places.
Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson is back in the fold, but there’s no room for his Eagles team-mate Eberechi Eze on this occasion, while Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford misses out again along with Newcastle’s Tino Livramento.
Carsley is expected to be in charge throughout the autumn after stepping up from the U21s on an initial interim basis, with the former Everton midfielder a contender to succeed Southgate on a permanent basis.
