Aston Villa goalkeeper Hannah Hampton has been handed an England recall for the April fixtures against Brazil and Australia.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official press release from The Football Association this morning.

Aston Villa keeper Hampton has been in inspired form for her club and her excellent performances have not gone unnoticed by England head coach Sarina Wiegman. Hampton is one of three players to return to the England squad, Manchester City’s Esme Morgan and West Ham United’s Lucy Parker being the others.

In other squad news, Emily Ramsey and Fran Kirby have missed out through injury while Lotte Wubben-Moy, Katie Zelem and Ebony Salmon have also not made the selection.

After the latest England squad was announced, head coach Wiegman said “We are getting closer to the World Cup and I can’t think of two better games to assess our progress. After these games, there will be less than three months until we fly to the tournament and we must make every second on and off the pitch count.

“For us as a technical staff, this will be the last chance to see the players within our England environment before we come together for the final preparation phase in June and these two matches will be two real tests to see where we are at.

“This is a major new trophy and to compete for it at a sold-out Wembley is another special moment, both for us as a team but also for our fans. We will never take these occasions for granted and I want to see how we perform against two teams that will be hoping to challenge for the World Cup.”

England contest the 2023 Women’s Finalissima against Brazil at Wembley on Thursday 6 April 2023 before facing Australia in an international friendly in Brentford on Tuesday 11 April 2023.
