England manager Gareth Southgate will name an unchanged XI for his side’s World Cup quarter-final clash against France on Saturday, according to Matt Law.

After bringing Marcus Rashford into the team for England’s final group game against Wales, the Manchester United forward did not start in the last 16 against Senegal.

This was despite his brace against the Dragons, taking his tally up to three in the tournament as he boasts one of the best goal-per-game ratios in Qatar.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson was brought into the starting XI for the Wales game and has been impressive, with Mason Mount missing out after starting the opening two fixtures.

After his goal against Senegal, Henderson will keep his place against Didier Deschamps’ side.

Tweeting on the morning of the huge World Cup match, Telegraph journalist Matt Law confirmed that Southgate will put out the same XI that beat Senegal when they take on the world champions.

The replies were full of angry fans who think France have been given a huge advantage.

This is something fans have been growing frustrated with throughout the tournament: journalists leaking team news.

So in order to get the fans on our side we have decided to write about the leaked team news. If you are this far in the article, you cannot comment saying we are a bunch of bastards, it is your choice to be here, it’s not like you have stumbled upon a tweet. We were also intentionally a bit clickbaity here, so a spoiler in the title doesn’t get anyone’s knickers in a twist.

Much of the build-up to the match has been all about Kylian Mbappe and how Kyle Walker will deal with him.

As a neutral fan, I really hope Mbappe starts on the right, in what could be the greatest curveball in football history.

Walker has been keen to downplay the battle against the French superstar, insisting it is England vs France, not Walker vs Mbappe.

Speaking ahead of the match, Southgate has told his players to “nail” the occasion.

“The biggest thing for me in the game is going to be our mentality,” the England manager said. “We’ll of course be tactically prepared.

“But on these nights you’ve got to have men that stand up and take on the challenge. That’s the bit that we’ve got to prove to people.

“We’ve had some outstanding nights and the next game is always the most important. It’s against a good level of opponent, one we’re ready for. One, if you’d asked me four years ago were we quite ready, I’m not sure.

“Now I feel differently about that, and that’s because we’ve got evidence over a long period of results.

“Historically we have always talked well, but the evidence wasn’t there. Now we’ve got more evidence and we’ve got to go and nail this type of game now.”
