Manchester City’s Head of Psychology has completed a short-term move to England Cricket ahead of the T20 World Cup this summer.

Pep Guardiola’s squad clinched a record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title last Sunday, and are bidding to make more history this weekend, when Manchester City face Manchester United in the Emirates FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium.

The Sky Blues could become the first club to win the Premier League and FA Cup back-to-back, with Manchester City having also beaten Manchester United in the FA Cup Final last season, as part of a landmark treble triumph.

A win on Saturday in north London would secure the Blues’ fourth trophy of the campaign, after Manchester City lifted both the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup alongside the Premier League title.

Guardiola has won 17 major trophies since his arrival at the Etihad Stadium in 2016, and the 53-year-old has continually praised the work of his backroom staff during a prolonged period of remarkable success both domestically and globally.

Manchester City will compete in the expanded 32-team FIFA Club World Cup in the United States next summer as a result of the UEFA Champions League win in 2023, and the Blues’ latest Premier League title win has also secured a spot in the 2024 FA Community Shield.

Members of the Manchester City first-team staff have become in-demand, with England Cricket having signed the club’s Head of Psychology ahead of this summer’s T20 World Cup.

David Young will undertake a short-term consultancy role with England for the World Cup this summer, returning to the Three Lions squad after previously helping England to World Cup glory in 2019.

The psychologist, who worked with England between 2016 and 2020, return’s to the set-up after approval from Etihad bosses, according to ESPN.

Young will reportedly join Jos Buttler’s squad on Monday, following Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup Final against Manchester United.
