England have matched their own goalscoring record, thanks to their impressive 3-0 win over Senegal to progress to the quarter-final of the FIFA World Cup.
While England did not make an exceptionally confident start as Senegal did have chances to score, but goals from Jordan Henderson, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka sealed the deal for Gareth Southgate’s side, who set up a quarter-final clash against France.
As per Opta though, England have now matched their own record for the highest number of goals in one edition of a World Cup. They have scored 12 goals already, which is already level with their record from 2018 and it was their best goalscoring run in a World Cup.
The Three Lions had put six past Iran in their World Cup opener and had scored three against Wales as well. While France will be a stiff test, Les Bleus have only scored nine times so far in the tournament.
