With both Arsenal and Manchester City knocked out of the Champions League, England’s extra Champions League spot could now be in trouble and Italy remain top of the UEFA Co-efficients table.

England now have no team left in the Champions League and have no team in the Europa League either, apart from Liverpool but the Reds could get knocked out tomorrow and so could West Ham at the hands of the new German champions Bayer Leverkusen. Aston Villa are in the Conference League and they are currently England’s only hope to potentially help the nation get an extra spot in the Champions League.

As per ESPN’s Dale Johnson, England need a miracle on Thursday and if things do not go their way, their hopes will end. Italy are currently top with 18,428 points and Germany are second with 17,642 points and that has been helped by Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund progressing into the semi-finals of the Champions League.

England are third and they have 16,875 points and have a significant gap with fourth-placed Spain. England have to hope Liverpool to upset Atalanta and Aston Villa to go through to have any chance of keeping hopes of an extra Champions League spot.
