The Villans announced the news this evening via a post on their official club website. It is understood that Aston Villa have paid an undisclosed fee to secure the player’s services from Houston Dash while it has been confirmed that she will operate as a forward for her new club.
The 30-year-old Harrogate-born ace, who can operate in several positions, moves to the Midlands club after spending the best part of the last decade playing in the United States where she has represented Los Angeles Strikers, LA Blues, SoCal FC and latest club Houston Dash.
Daly joins Aston Villa after impressing for England in their successful UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 campaign. The full-back forced her way into head coach Sarina Wiegman’s plans before cementing her place in the side for the tournament.
After bringing Daly to The Poundland Bescot Stadium, Aston Villa boss Carla Ward said “This is a big signing for us and one we’ve worked hard on completing. Rachel is a top forward and a proven goalscorer.
“Having performed admirably at full-back this summer, she showed us that she is a player you simply need in your team.
“But for us, she is a forward and we can’t wait to see her scoring goals.”
Daly becomes the sixth signing at Aston Villa in the current transfer window.
