The Red Devils announced the news this morning via a post on their official club website.
Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner was keen to retain the services of the England international forward beyond the end of this season, however, the club have been unable to agree fresh terms with the player. Russo has made the decision to leave the Leigh Sports Village and take up a fresh challenge next season.
Russo joined Manchester United in September 2020 following a period playing football and studying in the United States. The 24-year-old has been a huge hit for The Red Devils, scoring 26 goals in 59 appearances for the club in all competitions. Russo featured in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup final for Manchester United this season, the club’s first-ever appearance in the showpiece, while she helped The Red Devils to finish as runners-up in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
The forward’s next career move is not yet known, however, Manchester United’s Barclays Women’s Super League rivals Arsenal have been heavily linked with Russo. The Gunners are believed to have previously seen a move for the player rejected in the January transfer window.
