England have reached the Euro 2024 quarter-finals, where they will meet Switzerland on Sunday 6th July for a place in the semi-finals.

Group C looks to be one that’s been kind to England, with Denmark, Serbia and Slovenia filling out the group. Despite not being at their best, the Three Lions were able to progress as group winners with five points as every single game in the group, aside from the 1-0 win that Gareth Southgate’s men managed against Serbia in their first match.

Jude Bellingham’s remarkable overhead kick in the 94th minute salvaged England’s campaign, and Harry Kane’s extra time header saw off Slovakia after extra-time.

Group C – Matchweek One

England’s first ever match against Serbia and first game at Euro 2024 resulted in a way, albeit in a far from vintage performance. A Jude Bellingham header in the first half was enough to separate the two sides and Orlovi did draw one big save from Jordan Pickford in the latter stages.

Group C – Matchweek Two

Much like in the Euro 2020 final, England and Denmark played out a 1-1 draw over 90 minutes when they met on Matchday Two of Group C at Euro 2024. Harry Kane had given England the lead in the first half only for a scorching strike from Rasmus Hojlund to draw Rod-Hvide level.

Group C – Matchweek Three

There’s really not much to be said about England’s 0-0 draw with Slovenia in their third and final group stage game. Although they controlled possession in the second half slightly better than in their previous two games, the Three Lions toiled with little creativity and were unable to break down a Slovenian defence hell-bent on securing a third straight draw and their spot in the group stages.

Round of 16

England continued with their unimpressive performances, but unbeaten run, when sneaking through past Slovakia in their round of 16 clash. Ivan Schranz continued his incredible Championship by scoring his third opening goal of the the tournament, and that looked as though it would be enough to see Slovakia over the line.

However, Jude Bellingham had other ideas. His incredible bicycle kick took the match to extra time, and then a typically well poached goal from Harry Kane at the very start of extra time gave England a lead that they barely deserved, but were able to hold onto.

Quarter-Finals

England have an excellent record against Switzerland, one of their best against any nation. England has lost only three times to the Swiss, and have been undefeated against them since 1981. England have won the last five meetings between 2014 and 2022, their last finals meeting was in Euro 2004, where a Wayne Rooney inspired England beat Switzerland 3-0.
