Gareth Southgate’s side finally broke through the hosts’ stubborn defence when Phil Foden diverted Manchester City teammate Kyle Walker’s shot home.

A second followed just three minutes later courtesy of Jude Bellingham pouncing on Andy Robertson’s defensive mishap to drill the Three Lions further ahead.

Scotland’s perseverance after the interval finally paid off as Robertson’s cross was turned into the visitors’ net by substitute Harry Maguire’s outstretched leg.

But Harry Kane restored his country’s advantage in the friendly affair by slotting home in the game’s closing stages after a through ball from Bellingham.
