England assistant manager Arjan Veurink will leave his role at the end of EURO 2025 to take the Netherlands job.

Veurink joined the England setup as assistant to Sarina Wiegman in 2021 having previously worked together as part of the Dutch team.

Now Veurink is set to return to the Netherlands only this time as the head coach after signing a deal that will keep him in the role until the end of EURO 2029.

"This is not only a great challenge and a wonderful new adventure, it also feels like a logical next step in my career," said Veurink about his next career step.

"I have never made a secret of the fact that I once wanted to be the person in charge of the Dutch national team. With more than eight years of experience at the highest level as Sarina Wiegman's right-hand man, first with the Netherlands and now in England, I am ready to stand on my own two feet.

"The fact that this opportunity is now occurring in the Netherlands makes it extra special. I will now do everything I can to end the coming months in England in style."

Coincidentally, England have been drawn in Group D alongside the Netherlands with the two countries facing off in Zurich on July 9th.
