England have announced they will play Portugal in their final match on home soil before heading down under for the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
The Lionesses will take on Portugal in Milton Keynes on Saturday 1 July, three weeks before their World Cup opener against Haiti.
A report in The Athletic this week said the fixture was in doubt amid confusion over when England’s pre-tournament training camp was due to begin, with players reportedly asked to report on 19 June, four days earlier than a recommendation from Fifa.
The FA have now confirmed camp will start on 19 June after talks with the players and their clubs.
“We are grateful for the mutual understanding of the clubs, as we have collectively worked towards a solution with the wellbeing of players at the heart,” a statement read.
England will also face Canada in a behind closed doors game on 14 July.
