Captain Leah Williamson and youngster Lucy Parker have withdrawn from the England squad as a result of injuries.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official press release from The Football Association this morning. The announcement comes just hours after Manchester United forward Alessia Russo also pulled out of international duty with a minor injury.

It has been reported that Williamson’s injury was sustained in a training session and she will continue to be assessed by the Arsenal medical team while West Ham United defender Parker suffered an injury in the club’s FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup group stage fixture at London City Lionesses on Sunday.

England head coach Sarina Wiegman opted against calling a replacement into her squad for Russo, however, it has been confirmed that Arsenal’s Lotte Wubben-Moy and Manchester United’s Nikita Parris have been drafted in for Williamson and Parker.

The Lionesses are currently preparing for Friday’s international friendly fixture against the United States at The Lensbury Resort in South West London. England will take on the world champions at a sold out Wembley Stadium. Wiegman’s side are also scheduled to contest a second international friendly against the Czech Republic at Brighton & Hove Albion’s Amex Stadium on Tuesday evening.
