England and Manchester City legend Scott joins Aston Villa on loan
FAWSL Full-Time
The 34-year-old midfielder has made eight appearances in this season’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League including outings in Manchester City’s two victories over Aston Villa.
Scott will be keen for more game time ahead of this summer’s UEFA Women’s EURO therefore the move to Aston Villa could offer the player a greater opportunity to impress national team boss Sarina Wiegman. Scott is England’s second-highest record appearance holder with 154 caps at senior level.
At club level, Scott lifted the FA Women’s Super League 1 title with Manchester City in 2016 while she has won three Vitality Women’s FA Cups and three FA Women’s Continental League Cups with The Cityzens.
After completing the deal, Aston Villa boss Carla Ward said “When we heard of Jill’s availability it was a no-brainer. To have the chance to acquire one of England’s most decorated footballers is a chance we couldn’t turn down.
“Jill will bring so much to this group, not only on the pitch but I see her having a huge impact off it too. We have some hugely exciting young talents coming through, so for them to learn from someone of Jill’s stature will be massive.”
Scott will now look to help Aston Villa climb the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table further following Sunday’s 2-1 win at Leicester City.
