England will face the Republic of Ireland in a friendly at Wembley next month.

Gareth Southgate’s side had been due to play New Zealand in London before coronavirus travel restrictions caused them to pull out.

As a result, Ireland have now stepped in at the last minute and will travel to the English capital on 12 November instead.

It will be the first meeting between the sides in five years, when they played out a scoreless draw in Dublin.

Following the Thursday night friendly against Stephen Kenny’s men, England will complete their Nations League campaign with fixtures against Denmark and Iceland.

Ireland will follow it up with similar games against Wales away and Bulgaria at home.

Their last clash at Wembley came in 2013 and also ended in a draw, 1-1 on that occasion.
