Tottenham Hotspur ready to terminate Danny Rose contact

According to Football Insider (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur are ready to terminate the contract of out-of-favour defender Danny Rose.

The club were unable to find a taker for the 30-year-old in the summer. They are now prepared to pay him off in order to cancel his contract.

Rose has fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham over the last few months. He in fact spent the second half of last season on loan at Newcastle. A return to North London has done little to improve his prospects.

The defender’s standing at the club is clear without a doubt. He was left out of both our Europa League and Premier League squads for the season. It would appear his future at the club is non-existent.

The falling out with Jose Mourinho last November did little to improve matters. In fact, the 30-year-old last featured for Spurs in our 1-0 loss at home to Liverpool on January 11.

According to the report, Rose is believed to be on £70,000 per week wages. He has however played just five times under Jose Mourinho. While paying him off could cost us in the short term, we can do without having to pay him wages until June 2021.

With Sergio Reguilon and Ben Davies at the club, Rose is a player the team will not miss. Spurs are moving forward and look to be at the cusp of something special. It would appear Rose is just a fragment of the past.

  1. Jose Mourinho has some grand plans for Tottenham next season
  2. Morgan Schneiderlin snubbed Tottenham to join Manchester United and is now playing in France
  3. Tottenham could lose out on Sergio Reguilon despite just signing him in the summer

Rose joined Tottenham from Leeds United in 2007 and has made 214 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals and 29 assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Unfortunately, his journey as a Spurs player looks to be coming to a rather unceremonious end.
