Empoli striker Francesco Caputo was as excited as anyone when Cristiano Ronaldo joined Juventus this summer.

Ronaldo moved to the Bianconeri in a €100m summer switch from Real Madrid and has so far scored 11 times in 19 games.

Two of those goals came in a 2-1 victory away at Empoli in October, and it was Caputo who scored for the hosts that day.

But despite the fact his team lost, the 31-year-old says it was an honour to share a pitch with one of his heroes.

“Ronaldo? We are PlayStation mates,” Caputo told Sportweek.

“For years he was my goal-scorer and I would have never thought about playing against him in a competitive game, we were in very distant worlds.

“My goal against Juve? An incredible emotion. We took the lead and at that moment I touched the sky with a finger, then Ronaldo scored a crazy goal, which I saw from a privileged position. You can only applaud a similar thing.”
