Empoli president Fabrizio Corsi has joked that he might sell Jacopo Fazzini back to AC Milan after they rejected him a few years ago.
After joining the Azzurri in 2017 and making his way through the latter stages of the youth academy, he made his first team debut in 2022 and has since gone on to make over 50 appearances.
This season he has made eight and he scored twice in the Coppa Italia, with Empoli knocking Fiorentina out recently. He has been linked with a big move already given that he is just 21 and clearly has talent, with Milan mentioned as being a potential destination.
The Rossoneri have of course negotiated with Empoli plenty in the past, for deals like Ismael Bennacer, Rade Krunic, Daniel Maldini, Lorenzo Colombo and Devis Vasquez.
Corsi spoke at an event regarding the process of scouting and developing talent and he was asked about Empoli’s latest success story Fazzini, with his comments relayed by MilanPress.
“My qualities are due to the ability to know how to select people. Fazzini? He came to us at fourteen from a club in Versilia linked to Milan,” he said.
“I joked with the coach [D’Aversa] telling him that Milan rejected him and we signed him, maybe now we’ll sell him back to them (laughs).”
