Empoli have made a move for Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu.

The Wales international is available from Chelsea this month after not being given a shirt number for the new season.

Ampadu enjoyed a positive season last term on-loan with Vicenza in Italy and could now be set to return.

The Daily Mail says Ampadu played every minute of Wales' Nations League campaign and their World Cup play-off game against Ukraine.

Therefore, he believes he should be one of the first names on the team-sheet for Wales' fixtures in Qatar.

A deal with Empoli could afford him the opportunity to get the minutes he requires to make his World Cup dream a reality.
