Callum McGregor was in tears at full time after the Scottish Cup Final defeat to Aberdeen. The skipper, who has been outstanding once again this season, was unbeaten in every Cup Final that he’s played in until today.
Speaking after the game, McGregor was clearly emotional as he referred to the moment as his worst in football.
Brendan consoled McGregor and told him that he is a fanatic servant to the club and a great leader.
McGregor is a Celtic legend and this defeat has clearly hurt him. The midfielder is synonymous with success at Celtic and has taken this as hard as the supporters. He should be under no illusions that he is a fantastic player and leader. The 30-year-old showed great maturity in stepping up to take the first penalty and it is unfortunate that he’s missed. As he says, he will be back stronger and the support will still rally behind him. As they say “there’s nobody better…” – hopefully the skipper can put this disappointment to one side and motivate Celtic towards further success next year.
