Adebayor, of course, played for Arsenal between 2006-2009 before departing to The Citizens in a £25 million deal.

He was fired up in his first game against his former club.

Arsenal fans were giving Adebayor a hard time as they made their feelings known about his departure.

But Adebayor got his own back in the 80th minute as he headed home to give his side a 3-1 lead.

The striker then produced the most iconic celebration in Premier League history.

Adebayor turned around, ran the length off the pitch and then did a knee-slide in front of the Arsenal fans.

The away supporters threw all sorts of projectiles at him but he just stayed there motionless with his arms outstretched.

It was a truly incredible celebration and you can watch it below:

Adebayor was booked for his troubles.

He would go on to express his regret in his post-match interview. Even he couldn't believe what he had done.

"Yeah for sure [I lost my head]," he admitted. "I think I could not do what I have done. But you know, it's like the emotion took over me. The frustration is out of me. I feel sorry for what I have done. But as a player, we just focus on what we're doing and scoring.

"The way people judge me for what I haven't done. Scoring goals again today made me feel free in my body. I think I do a little bit more of what I have to do but I'm very sorry for doing what I have done.

"We are all human beings, we have to do a mistake to be better tomorrow. I have done a big mistake today. And I think tomorrow, these things will never happen anymore."
