Chelsea manager Emma Hayes has been named the 2021/22 Manager of the Season, scooping the award for a third consecutive campaign.

Hayes led Chelsea to their third successive WSL title as the Blues pipped rivals Arsenal to top spot on a dramatic final day.

Chelsea had trailed 2-1 to Manchester United at half time, but overturned the deficit thanks to a pair of stunning Sam Kerr efforts to run out 4-2 winners and finish one point ahead of the Gunners.

The Blues then signed off the season with a 3-2 victory over Manchester City at Wembley to win the FA Cup and complete a domestic double.

"Those women, they will go down in history," Hayes said following her side's FA Cup triumph. "I'll look back in 10 years time and I'll be like: 'that group was immense. That was the best team I've ever coached'.

"[I] totally understand that we always want to talk about perfection in football, but having been on the winning side more often that not, it's about human endeavour and we have a group of people who believe they're not going to be on the losing team, they'll find a way."

Chelsea overturned a four-point gap between themselves and Arsenal at the turn of the year as they went on to clinch the WSL crown.

The Blues suffered a Covid-19 outbreak and had to contend with injuries to key players - including captain Magdalena Eriksson, who missed over two months of action. Chelsea also had the government restrictions placed on the club and Todd Boehly's takeover unfolding in the background.

Matt Beard received the Championship honour, having led the Reds back to the WSL during his maiden season in charge.
