It seemed like Real Madrid would be signing Kylian Mbappe from PSG on a free transfer in 2022 until the forward made a last-minute swerve and decided to continue in Paris by signing a new contract.

In the months to come, Mbappe went on to declare that the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, had played a role in changing his mind about his future, along with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, and the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

So, when reports emerged yesterday that the 25-year-old would be meeting Macron today, along with the Emir, naturally concerns grew about there being a repeat of the 2022 situation.

No new proposal to convince Mbappe

However, as per Fabrizio Romano, sources close to PSG inform that the Emir of Qatar, who also happens to be the chairman of the Qatar Sports Investments that owns the club, will not make any proposal to convince Mbappe to stay.

The Emir of Qatar is visiting France for the first time since 2013 and Mbappe will be a part of the reception that President Macron has arranged for the occasion.

And while the three parties will meet and interact, there will be no attempt made to try and convince Mbappe to change his mind and stay at PSG, after learning about his decision to leave in the summer.

As far as the Frenchman is concerned, he has been absolutely clear with the Ligue 1 champions that he wants to leave when his contract expires in the summer.

Furthermore, Romano adds that contract talks with Real Madrid are already in advanced stages.

So, as things stand, it appears that Mbappe’s mind is made up and neither Macron nor Al Thani will be attempting to change things.
