Jamie Carragher enjoys weighing in on Manchester United’s struggles and he is more than happy to add to the Erik ten Hag pile on.

We have seen Arsenal earn praise in recent times for standing by Mikel Arteta, which is why I would urge caution when listening to the views of mouthpieces in the media who have a clear detest for United.

That includes former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher.

Carragher thinks no squad in football history will be more embarrassed following a huge win than United after Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final victory over Championship side Coventry City.

Still bitter after watching United knock Liverpool out in the quarter-finals, Carragher believes Ten Hag is destined for the sack despite getting his team to two FA Cup finals in as many years.

The Reds needed penalties to beat Coventry on Sunday, having let slip a 3-0 lead with 20 minutes to play.

With United set to miss out on Champions League football, Carragher believes the disappointing display at Wembley will prove costly to Ten Hag.

Carragher told Sky Sports: “I think the result has just cost Erik ten Hag his job. I think that result has just cost Erik ten Hag his job.

“It’s just poor performance after poor performance. That dressing room is probably the most embarrassed dressing room from a team that has just won a big game.

“You can’t even celebrate that win. Maybe that can somehow win the final but I just don’t see any progress.

“This is somebody’s job we’re talking about, but I just don’t see how they [the owners] can look at the situation and be positive about it. I don’t see it.”

Ten Hag has an FA Cup final on May 25 to look forward to and the likes of Carragher will do all they can to cause unrest for the Dutchman until then. I hope the manager can silence the critics by winning football oldest competition.

Carragher wants nothing more than to see unrest at United. He wants to joke about our managerial instability if Ten Hag does get the sack.

United’s new technical director Jason Wilcox is expected to review Ten Hag’s position as manager over the next month.
