Manchester United Women’s Ella Toone and Grace Clinton played their part in England reaching the Euro final.

The Lionesses’ tournament has been characterised by comebacks and fight and last night’s effort was no different.

The English were losing for most of the game but scored an incredible last-gasp equaliser in the 96th minute through Michelle Agyemang. Incredibly, Chloe Kelly scored a penalty to win the match 2-1 in the last minute of extra-time.

Toone role

Ella Toone has had a strong tournament but failed to impress against Sweden in the quarter-finals.

She roared back into life last night however, playing an integral part in her team’s victory.

Toone played the entire 120 minutes of action, giving everything for her nation.

She completed 79% of her passes and impressively made four key passes in the match.

The United attacker also created one big chance in the game that was not converted.

Her long passing was not as on point as usual though as she only connected with one long ball attempt out of three and only two out of five crosses reached their intended target.

The 25-year-old helped out defensively too, winning 100% of her aerial duels and one out of two ground duels.

Grace Clinton cameo

The United midfield star missed a penalty in the shootout last time out against Sweden but had a better evening yesterday.

She played 15 minutes of extra-time, completing 100% of her passes as she kept the play ticking over.

Clinton also made a difference defensively, making three clearances in such a limited amount of time on the pitch.

Maya Le Tissier once again failed to get off the bench but the even being part of the squad will be valuable experience for the youngster.

United’s Women will now face either Spain or Germany in the final on Sunday 27th July.
