Manchester United Women’s England stars made it through to the semi-finals of Euro 2025 in dramatic style.

They came back from 0-2 down to draw 2-2 with two goals in three minutes.

With neither team finding a winner in extra-time, the match went to a penalty shootout and despite England missing four penalties, they managed to beat Sweden 3-2 from 12 yards.

Ella Toone struggles

Toone has been in incredible form for England this tournament, scoring two goals and providing two assists in the group stage.

Nonetheless, she failed to have much impact on the match and was substituted off after 70 minutes whilst the Lionesses were 0-2 down.

She completed 82% of her passes but failed to complete any key passes.

Toone completed her only crossing attempt and failed to have any shots on or off target. A couple of her efforts were blocked by the Swedish defence though.

The United attacking midfielder did successfully complete two out of her three dribble attempts but could not force a goal while she was on the pitch.

The 25 year old did help out defensively, winning three out of her four ground duels but lost her only aerial battle.

She will hope for a much greater impact against Italy in the semi-finals on Tuesday.

Grace Clinton fails to impress

Grace Clinton was subbed on during extra-time in the 104th minute.

She also struggled to get involved as she only had 7 touches of the ball and only completed 50% of her passes.

Her biggest moment came in the penalty shootout when her tame effort was well saved by the Swedish keeper. Luckily, it did not matter in the end as her team came out on top.

On the positive side, she did win two out of her three aerial duels in the match.

Clinton has not featured in the tournament as much as she would have liked and unfortunately her display last night is unlikely to have changed England coach Sarina Wiegman’s mind.
