Belgium U21 midfielder Eliot Matazo (21) has played a peripheral role at AS Monaco so far this season and manager Adi Hütter spoke about the academy product’s future at Friday morning’s press conference.
Matazo has seemingly fallen down the pecking order at the Principality club. Last season, he featured 29 times in all competitions, starting 13 Ligue 1 games. However, Denis Zakaria arrived over the summer and Matazo has gone on to feature in just six games this season. He has not yet started a game and has not yet registered 100 minutes on the pitch in rouge et blanc.
Naturally, questions are being asked about his future. “Sometimes the players aren’t 100% satisfied,” began Hütter in a press conference, attended by Get French Football News. “That is normal in football when you have lots of players for just one or two places. I like him a lot as a player. He is an interesting player who always trains at a high level. It is now my problem because I have lots of players for few positions. We may need to think for the future what to do with Eliot but I want to congratulate him on his attitude on a daily basis.”
