It has already been a busy start to the SWPL season for Celtic FC Women, who are gearing up for their first away visit of the campaign this weekend.

Having made a strong start to the 2024/25 campaign, Elena Sadiku’s side travel north on Sunday to take on Aberdeen at Balmoral Park.

Fresh off the back of making it three wins from three in midweek, with a 5-1 win over Motherwell, the Ghirls will be aiming to continue their perfect start against the Dons.

Speaking to Celtic TV to preview this weekend’s trip, Sadiku reflected on what has been a positive week so far for her squad.

With goals being spread throughout the team, the Celtic Head Coach is hoping that is something her squad can maintain, starting with this Sunday’s game.

She said: “Obviously I think I’m very happy with the way we attacked and the chances we created against Motherwell.  We maybe could have scored more goals, but we are still at the start of the season.

“We are still growing as a team. It’s good to see that we are creating a lot of chances and playing attractive football.

‘So, that is something that I am pleased with and that we need to keep building on.’

“We have scored 15 goals and had nine different goal scorers so far. That says a lot about the team and the way we attack.

“That is something that I am really happy with, and hopefully we can get more goals going into this weekend.”

This weekend’s trip to Aberdeen will round off the 3rd game inside the space of eight days for the Celts.

Picking up six points from six so far, the Celtic boss is hoping her side can continue that strong run of form and round off a positive week with another victory.

Although there will have been high demands on her squad, Sadiku insists playing games is exactly what her squad want to be doing at this stage of the season, with another new test on the horizon against Aberdeen.

“I’m very excited to see how Aberdeen play,” she said. “Obviously, we know that their former Head Coach left, so they might make some changes or not know what to expect.

“But that is something that I want the players to adapt to. If something changes that we didn’t expect, then that is something they need to handle on the pitch.

'So, I’m looking forward to the game on Sunday now.'

“What we need to do is make sure we are hungry and passionate going into each game.

“Playing games is what we want to do. We want to be play games as much as possible because that’s why we play football.

“We train to play games and now when we have so many games, we should enjoy it, be excited and look forward to doing what we are good at.”
