Anthony Elanga says he is ‘hungry’ for more after making his Manchester United debut in the club’s 2-1 defeat to Leicester.

The teenager made his first appearance for the club as he was handed a start against the Foxes as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rotated his side, with the academy graduate handed his opportunity following a series of excellent performances for the Red Devils’ U23 side.

Elanga is the latest young prospect to be handed his senior debut under Solskjaer and the 19-year-old outlined his desire for more first-team action after a the realisation of a ‘dream come true’.

“It felt amazing,” he told MUTV. “You get told from a young age that the most important [thing] is to win and I would have loved to win on my debut. It wasn’t to be but it’s a dream come true for me and my family. I really enjoyed it out there on the pitch.”

Elanga admitted he felt confident ahead of his step up into the first-team after training with the senior side, insisting his focus was on enjoying the occasion as he had his first taste of Premier League football.

“I felt confident, I felt good,” he said.

“I’ve worked hard for this. I’ve trained with this lot and I was like: ‘I’m here, just go on the pitch and enjoy myself’. Like everyone said before the game, they told me to enjoy myself and that’s what I tried to do.”

The youngster says his senior debut has only increased his appetite for more senior involvement, insisting he will now ‘work even harder’ to force his way into Solskjaer’s plans on a permanent basis.

“It makes me hungry,” he said about his debut. “It makes me want to continue, it makes me want to work even harder in training.

“I’ve always said I train the way I want to play. I always want to give 100 per cent in training and secure a spot in the team and, hopefully next game, I can be involved again. I want to work hard in training to secure a spot in the team.”
