Barcelona v Napoli

Scorers: Ferran (PEN) 57′; Zielinski 29′

A contentious second half penalty was enough to give Barcelona a 1-1 draw at home to Napoli in front of an almost sell-out home crowd.

The Europa League anthem may take some getting used to to Barcelona fans but there was a very healthy crowd here at Camp Nou for the visit of Napoli.

The Blaugrana were on the front foot from the off with Nico going close after 15 minutes as his close range effort was saved.

But after Ferran Torres went close for the home side it was Napoli who took the lead as Piotr Zielinski lashed home a rebound.

Into the second half and Xavi’s side were pushing for the equaliser but were frustrated by poor quality in the final third – Adama Troare being a particular culprit.

They did get their equaliser though as after a controversial VAR review a penalty was given and Ferran Torres dispatched from the spot.

The former Manchester City man had at least two more chances to win the game but fluffed his lines as both sides shared the spoils.

Borussia Dortmund v Rangers

Scorers: Bellingham 51′ Guerreiro 82′; Tavernier (PEN) 37′, Moreos 41′ 55′, Lundstrum 49′

In one of the games of the season Rangers overcame Borussia Dortmund 4-2 to claim a famous away win against the German giants.

Borussia Dortmund went into this game without Erling Haaland leading the line and they struggled to craft any chances for new man Donyell Malen in the opening exchanges.

It was the SPL side who actually had the best chance early on as Borna Barisic’s effort was saved well by Gregor Kobel.

But it was the Bundesliga side who really should have taken the lead as Dan-Axel Zagadou headed straight at Allan McGregor when it looked easier to score.

And right on the stroke of half time Rangers got their opener. A penalty was given after a handball by Zagadou and James Tavernier dispatched from the spot.

They weren’t done there however, as Alfredo Morelos bundled in from close range to double the Gers lead.

Into the second half and it got even worse for the hosts as John Lundstrum hit a first time effort into the bottom corner.

They did manage to get one goal back as Jude Bellingham fired one in from the edge of the area.

This rollercoaster game took another turn as Morelos’s deflected effort beat two defenders for a fourth and with 10 minutes to go Guerreiro pulled another back for the hosts.
