Liverpool faced off against Crystal Palace at Wembley Stadium earlier today as they hoped to secure a good result and win the Community Shield trophy. The Reds made a bright start to the game and grabbed the lead in the fourth minute thanks to Hugo Ekitike’s excellent finish. However, Jean-Philippe Mateta equalised for the Eagles from the penalty spot in the 17th minute. Jeremie Frimpong restored Liverpool’s lead just four minutes later as Arne Slot’s men went into the half-time break 2-1 up on the scoreline.

The London team grabbed the equaliser in the 77th minute when Ismaila Sarr found the back of the net. The contest finished 2-2 after normal time and went to penalties.
