Corinthians’ new president, Augusto Melo, has handed Paris Saint-Germain an ultimatum concerning the pending transfer of Gabriel Moscardo (18).

The Brazilian midfielder had looked set to join compatriot Lucas Beraldo in signing for PSG, however, a medical identified a foot injury that requires surgery. Whilst Les Parisiens remain keen on completing the transfer, there is a reticence to take a risk. The deal is therefore on standby, much to the frustration of Melo.

Moscardo’s PSG transfer ‘an uncomfortable situation’

Speaking to Domingo, he has called for PSG to either complete the transfer or withdraw. “Either PSG pay now, or he comes back to Corinthians. If they don’t pay now, he’ll come back. I have asked for him to come back. If there is a risk that we aren’t paid, let him return to fitness here and we will be in a good position to sell him for even more […] in two months, he will be back,” said Melo.

Corinthians are therefore trying to force PSG’s hand after president Nasser Al-Khelaifi revealed that Moscardo’s transfer represented “an uncomfortable situation,” given that the club “can’t take the risk of taking an injured player.” Al-Khelaifi said that PSG must therefore wait to complete the €20m transfer, however, they may not be able to wait too much longer.
