Hugo Ekitiké feels as though Eintracht Frankfurt were robbed when Felix Brych didn’t award the Hessen club a penalty in stoppage time after the Frenchman was brought down on the goal line by Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah.
A mix-up between Lukas Hradecky and Tah saw the ball bounce towards the Leverkusen goal. Chased down by Tah, Ekitike challenged for the ball in the air but felt as though he was pushed by the opposing defender.
Speaking in the mixed zone after the game, via Patrick Berger, Ekitiké said: “Foul. Red card. Penalty. I’m alone in front of the goal. It’s crazy. Crazy! Crazy!”
Tah thought Brych made the correct decision, stating: “For me absolutely no penalty. Absolutely none!”
Omar Marmoush opened the scoring for Eintracht Frankfurt before goals from Robert Andrich and Victor Boniface secured a win for Bayer Leverkusen, their first win in the Bundesliga after successive draws.
