Bild are reporting that Eintracht Frankfurt tried to sign to other players in the winter transfer window including Victor Lindelöf of Manchester United and Borna Sosa of VfB Stuttgart.

Frankfurt had reportedly been working on a loan deal for Lindelöf as he has lacked playing time at Manchester United. The 28-year-old was also interested in moving to the Bundesliga but coach Erik ten Hag prefered Lindelöf to stay in Manchester.

Borna Sosa was an alternative to Philipp Max. The Croatian would like to leave Stuttgart but VfB demanded €12 million which was too much for Frankfurt. Bayer Leverkusen was also interested in Sosa and were also put off by the asking price.

The signing of Max was one of three deals Frankfurt completed in the winter window and it is one that will help the team greatly due to the departure of Luca Pellegrini, whose loan was cut short as he will likely be the starting left-back ahead of the likes of Christopher Lenz and Ansgar Knauff.
