As reported via Tranfermarkt, Eintracht Frankfurt are looking to sign former Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto.
The Spanish giants recently announced that, after 14 years in Catalonia, club captain Sergi Roberto will depart the club as a free agent.
This has, therefore, led to a significant amount of interest in the 32-year-old’s signature, with a number of European sides considering making a move for Roberto.
It is understood that Ajax, Fiorentina, AS Monaco, and Sevilla are all interested in the former Barcelona midfielder, offering strong competition for Die Adler.
However, Roberto has yet to reach an agreement with any club.
The Spaniard would also have to significantly reduce his salary demands compared to the lucrative wages he was earning at Barcelona.
Regardless, a factor that does benefit Frankfurt in finalising a deal with the 32-year-old is that Roberto does not want to play for another Spanish side, potentially ruling Sevilla out of the race.
With Dino Toppmöller hoping to find a replacement for Sebastian Rode, who was considered a leader in the Frankfurt dressing room, SGE could look to convince Roberto of a move to Deutsche Bank Park, with the eleven-time Spanish international set to make his decision in the coming days.
