Paul Wanner continues to get valuable game time at FC Heidenheim this season. The performances of Heidenheim and Wanner have dipped over the last few weeks, but Bayern Munich will be pleased to see him playing regularly in the Bundesliga.

The 18-year-old will make a decision on his future at Bayern in May. Bayern chiefs have consistently insisted that Wanner remains part of their long-term future, but the club’s pursuit of Florian Wirtz may have a big impact on the youngster’s decision to stay in Bavaria.

Bayer Leverkusen reportedly have a strong interest in signing Wanner. There has been a suggestion in Germany that he could be involved in a deal for Wirtz. However, Bayern remain determined to keep Wanner. However, several Bundesliga clubs are showing strong interest in signing the teenager for next season.

According to Bild (via iMiaSanMia), Eintracht Frankfurt are interested in signing Wanner on loan if they qualify for the Champions League next season. They are currently second in the points table, four points behind Bayern.

Wanner reportedly wants to play Champions League football next season, which is ideally the next step in his development. A loan move to Frankfurt next season could benefit all parties, provided they qualify for the Champions League.

Wanner returns to Allianz Arena on Saturday

The Bavarian faithful will get to watch Wanner closely this weekend as FC Heidenheim visit Allianz Arena in the Bundesliga. Heidenheim are struggling in the league, sitting 16th in the points table. However, Wanner is expected to start on Saturday as they look to bring an end to a run of four consecutive defeats in the league.

The teenager started the season on fire by scoring goals in the Bundesliga and conference league. He has chipped in with five goals for the team across all competitions. Courtesy of good performances at the club level, Julian Nagelsmann had called up Wanner for Germany. However, the youngster decided to keep playing for the U-21 team. He still has a decision to make regarding his future in international football, as Germany and Austria are vying for his services.

The next six months are crucial for Wanner. He will soon decide on his international team. At this point, it does look like Germany is leading the race to get him. At the club level, he has a tough decision to make. Another loan move will give him more time to assess his long-term future in Munich. There will be interest from other Champions League clubs if he continues to shine for Heidenheim.
