As reported by Kicker, Eintracht Frankfurt have intensified their efforts to sign Montpellier striker Elye Wahi.

The 20-year-old French striker has been long linked with Die Adler, and the German club are now acting quickly to organise a deal. L’Equipe have reported that Frankfurt head coach Dino Toppmöller has already spoken to Wahi over a potential move.

Nevertheless, it is uncertain as to whether the Eagles will be able to pay the asking price for Wahi before key sales have gone through, as Montpellier are demanding €30m for the talented marksman. The DFB-Pokal finalists also have to contend with Chelsea, who as reported by our colleagues at Get French Football News, have already agreed on personal terms with the forward.

Last season, Wahi featured 33 times for Montpellier in Ligue 1 where the striker scored 19 goals and collected six assists. This phenomenal campaign had been following on from a breakout season for La Paillade, proving that Wahi is ready for the next step up in his career.

While a deal looks difficult for Die Adler, they will not give up on Wahi as they can guarantee him game time next season, whereas, a move to Chelsea would see the 20-year-old more than likely loaned back out. With a future sale of Randal Kolo Muani in mind, Frankfurt want to act now so they have a replacement on hand for when their star striker departs.
