Eintracht Frankfurt’s Markus Krösche has discussed the reasoning behind the Bundesliga club deciding against a move for Lyon’s Houssem Aouar.

“We have to be convinced that a player really wants to join us,” Krösche told Kicker. “There comes a point where it ends. Then we have to say ‘no’. We didn’t feel like we could find a solution.”

It was reported on Monday that SGE had decided against signing Aouar on a free transfer. This is despite the 24-year-old not only completing two medical examinations but also having a verbal agreement between all parties.

Per Sport1’s report, this is because Aouar’s brother, who is also the player’s advisor, kept the player’s options open despite all the talks and it’s poker that Eintracht didn’t want to be a part of.

Since the failed transfer, Eintracht Frankfurt have turned their attention elsewhere in the form of Toulouse’s Farès Chaïbi (20), who has a verbal agreement with the club, but a deal could still prove complicated.
