Manchester City have a total of seven first-team stars that could be subject to exits from the Etihad Stadium this summer, according to a new report.

Hugo Viana and Txiki Begiristain are believed to be working behind-the-scenes on a shortlist of candidates to explore and possibly approach over big-money moves to the Etihad Stadium marking the beginning of a new era in many ways for Pep Guardiola’s squad.

Begiristain will be leaving his role as sporting director of City after 12 seasons at the club come the end of the season, and as such is overseeing a transitional phase alongside his successor, who began work full-time for the club earlier this month joining from Sporting CP.

While potential arrivals into Pep Guardiola’s side will no doubt cause the most excitement among supporters around the grounds and across social media, there is plenty to discuss and mull over when it comes to exits.

Kevin De Bruyne has already been confirmed as the first major exit of the summer as the 33-year-old will be available for a free transfer after Manchester City opted not to extend the Belgian’s contract beyond June 2025.

And now, according to the information of Football Transfers’ Steve Kay, all of Jack Grealish, Kyle Walker, Ederson and Stefan Ortega Moreno could also depart the Etihad Stadium this summer, along with a number of other names.

Bernardo Silva’s future is once again in doubt and Lyon’s Rayan Cherki has been named as the considered replacement, while Florian Wirtz would ideally come into the team to take the mammoth role of Kevin De Bruyne.

Elsewhere in midfield and Mateo Kovacic could be subject to an exit with Tottenham said to be interested, while it has now been remarkably suggested that Jeremy Doku could also find a way out of Manchester City amid concerns that opportunities will be limited by Omar Marmoush.

The 22-year-old understandably wants to play regular football at the top of European football and holds a dream of playing in Spain, while the report claims that his representatives have sounded out the likes of FC Barcelona and Real Sociedad, with Chelsea also interested.

Exits from Manchester City’s squad could go a long way towards funding a revamp of the side as the club looks to get themselves back challenging for the biggest honours immediately after a downward turn this season.

The expectation is that despite a spend close to £200 million during the winter market, Manchester City officials still have a heavy cash-load available for reinvestment, while the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup and sell-on clauses in contracts across the game will also help.

There is not believed to be any concern from within the Etihad Stadium over Financial FairPlay due to previous transfer windows coming and going without too much in the way of spend, while Manchester City have generated huge amounts from player sales over the years.

As such, there is an expectation in some quarters that more than four new faces could arrive into the club, added to the arrival of Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis, Nico Gonzalez, and Omar Marmoush from the January window.
