Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall expects that his side will come up against another determined Brighton & Hove Albion outfit at Meadow Park on Thursday evening.

The Gunners last faced The Seagulls in Boreham Wood in the 2020/2021 Vitality Women’s FA Cup semi-finals back in October. While Eidevall’s side ran out 3-0 winners, they were kept quiet by their opponents for a long period of that game.

When speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Arsenal’s latest meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion, Eidevall said that he expects another challenge from a team which are always well-organised.

“I expect them to work very, very hard,” Eidevall said. “Obviously, we played them in the FA Cup and they sacrificed themselves a lot in the defensive third, they are organised, they try to hit you on the counter attack, they are good at set pieces and they are a strong crossing team.

“I expect that they will go out there and try to play the game how they want to do it but I expect us to play our game.”

Sunday’s goalless draw with Chelsea means that Brighton & Hove Albion have now gone 10-and-a-half hours without scoring a goal. Arsenal boss Eidevall went on to say that he doesn’t want that dismal record to end at Meadow Park.

He said “Of course, Brighton are going to score goals again in the future, we have just got to do everything in our power to make sure that it is not on Thursday.

“It is about controlling their threats. Brighton have big threats, they are a really good crossing team and they are good at getting numbers in the box when they are crossing the ball. You need to be good at defending those moments and also limiting those moments.

“For me, you can never rest with any information that you have on previous results, it is about looking at the performances and how they want to play and try to nullify their strengths and exploit their weaknesses.”

The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Arsenal and Brighton & Hove Albion kicks-off at 7.30pm on Thursday evening. Tickets for the match remain available and can be purchased by clicking here.
