Preston also drew their third game after picking up points against Bristol City and Sheffield United. Matt Phillips netted his second goal of the Championship when he levelled two minutes into first-half injury time.

Preston lined up in a 3-4-1-2 formation with Johnson at the centre just behind strikers Riis and Maguire. Goalkeeper Iversen was guarded by the three defenders, Hughes, Bauer and Storey.

Preston mostly played at their end with a couple of attacks coming through the second half.

The Baggies started in a 3-4-3 formation. Furlong and Reach operated at wing-back with Livermore and  Mowatt as the midfield two lead by Hugill, who was supported by Diangana and Philips.

WBA tried to push upfront however they were unable to keep the game flowing. Diangana tried to push up high but was unsuccessful to keep his position.

The xG chart was equal with Preston with an xT of 0.81 and WBA with 0.82. In terms of attack and possession, the Baggies dominated over their opponent with a huge margin. Defensively, Preston were better compared to their opponents.

Both teams levelled in terms of xG with 0.81. Preston had 28.57% of their shots on target with WBA following behind with 27.27%. Riis recorded the highest xG than any player on the pitch while Phillips had the highest xG for the Baggies.

Preston took seven shots with two being on target. Most of the shots were attempted from outside the box.

The Baggies attempted 11 shots with only three shots on target. Most of their shots were taken a long way from goal. They also had four free kicks but failed to keep them on target.

The xT timeline was dominated by Preston in the second half. Phillips took the most number of shots for his team with one being on target and had an xG of 0.35.

Hughes attempted the most number of passes, 31 with Riis and Earl receiving 15 passes each.

Reach received 24 passes for the Baggies while Furlong and Mowatt attempted the most number of passes.

Preston attempted most passes from the left and right flank. Earl completed 11 out of his 22 while Johnson successfully completed 14 out of his 22 crosses.

WBA attacked from both the left flank. Mowatt attempted the most number of crosses for his team. He also attempted to play one smart pass.

Preston had a higher xT with passes from the right flank. Ledson had an xT of 0.394 from his passes while Riis had a passing accuracy of 76.92%.

While Ledson had an xT of 0.39 from passes, Murphy lead the xT from the dribbles chart, 0.05.However Johnson and Riis and failed to create any significant threat with the passes they attempted.

WBA had more of the xT creation zones in the final third and the highest threat was created by Townsend. He had a high xT of 0.407 from his passes.

The Baggies players had a positive xT from their passes. Diangana impressed with his dribbling skills. Townsend topped the xT from the passes chart for his team.

The Preston players lost most of the defensive duels they attempted.

Hughes won ten out of his 16 aerial duels followed by Earl and Bauer winning seven for their team.

Earl won most of the loose ball duels for his team and recovered possession for his team.

The WBA defenders failed to recover most of the duels for their team.

Bartley won 15 out of his 22 aerial duels followed by Ajayi winning 13 out of his 20.

They lost most of the loose ball duels they attempted.

Although WBA dominated most of the possession, they were unable to make most of the chances. Preston North End currently sits in the 17th position with nine points while the Baggies sit at the third position with 16 points.
