Cardiff City have shown great improvement under Steve Morison this season, with the Bluebirds targeting a third successive league victory when Preston North End visit tomorrow afternoon.

The reverse fixture was Morison’s first game in charge for the South Wales club, with the former striker leading his side to a 2-1 victory at Deepdale.

Cardiff have averaged 1.42 PPG under Morison’s stewardship, compared to 0.88 prior to his appointment.

Similarly, Preston have upped it a gear under Ryan Lowe, with the Lilywhites losing just twice in 15 games since his early December appointment.

What year was the club founded?

1880 1889 1905 1912

Picking up 25 points in that time, Lowe has helped Preston into a position where they find themselves with an outside shot of securing a play-off spot.

Issuing his score prediction via his Sky Sports column, David Prutton believes that the Bluebirds will end up victorious with a 1-0 win.

The verdict

Sitting 18 points above the drop zone and 15 points away from the play-offs, it appears that the rest of this campaign will be about best preparing themselves for next year, and whilst some will believe that Cardiff have little to play for, that will not be the mindset within Morison’s camp.

With a slim chance of making the top-six, not taking maximum points tomorrow could make the task too steep for the Lilywhites, especially when considering the sheer number of teams that are still in the running.

Both teams have improved massively since the start of the campaign, which promises to make this clash an exciting one, and it would be no surprise to see a 1-1 draw played out in South Wales.
